The World of Hall Physics

1st ICQM-ICQD-ICQS Joint Annual Workshop
Hosted by International Center for Quantum Materials (ICQM), Peking University
21-22 June, 2011, Beijing, China

About the Workshop

Welcome

Welcome to the website of the 1st ICQM-ICQD-ICQS Joint Annual Workshop.

This joint event is aimed to bring together, for the first time in a semi-formal setting, the members of three international centers for physics research in China, namely International Center for Quantum Materials (ICQM) at Peking UniversityInternational Center for Quantum Design of Functional Materials (ICQD) at Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale and International Center for Quantum Structures (ICQS) at Chinese Academy of Sciences.  While providing an opportunity for idea exchanges and in-depth discussions on particular topics, the workshop will also seek to improve collaborations amongst its member entities.  Researchers and students of the three physics research centers, and even the maternal institutions, are mainly expected to benefit from the event.

This year, the first edition of the joint workshop series will be hosted by ICQM on 21st and 22nd June in Beijing.  The main theme is ‘The World of Hall Physics’.  Starting with an overview of the classical Hall effects, the workshop is about to cover a whole range of exciting topics related to Hall physics: integer and fractional quantum Hall effects, anomalous and Spin Hall effects, optical, phononic and magnonic Hall effects, as well as transport phenomena in topological insulators.

This workshop will, in addition, be the prelude to the international workshop on Emergent Phenomena in Quantum Hall Systems (EPQHS4), also hosted by ICQM, from June 23 to 26, 2011.  Learn more about EPQHS4, if you are interested.
